my name is khan

how can anyone not be moved by this movie?!
ofcourse with shahrukh khan in it, everyone knew i was going to like it, but that man has gone beyond himself in this movie. its not even the autism or asperger's syndrome that strikes you....its just, the wonderful concept, all the small small things from daily life and also the beautiful message that the movie gives.

why cant a simple citizen meet his president? but in the movie we see why he cannot....and all the complexities that get us down. our basic dreams and ambitions slowly fade just because people around us keep shouting "are you mad? that cannot happen, you cannot do that!" or simply, because nobody else has ever done that. ANYTHING is possible if its for the right purpose, for the right reasons and done with hard work and honesty...

i saw a lot of people leave the theatre with me teary eyed.....moved.

and all those who tell me that they dont like the movie or "oh, its not such a great movie, just NONSENSE" ....are all major HYPOCRITES and just kidding themselves....they want to show that they are snobbish and WELL ABOVE liking "such movies". they think it makes them superior to the film industry, superior to "rest of the audience who likes all movies anyway" and also superior to "srk". i dont think they are. they fail to appreciate the beauty of what is shown in the movie and they lack the heart to understand this movie. maybe they've never loved or lost someone close to them, and they've never struggled for humanity or for winning back their only love, or they've never tried to meet the president.

at the end of the movie i had a wild idea.
SRK himself is my....i dont know. i love him since i was a kid and everyone knows that. and he's as difficult to reach as the president (almost) :)
so what say....MY NAME IS NISHMA...and I AM A FAN? why cant an ordinary fan meet her favorite star?....

do i go to mumbai and chase him around? i just want ONE LOOK from those passionate eyes....just one smile of shahrukh khan can melt me.
nice idea
need to think more on it....

  1. You'd hate me, then... though I did like SRK for a while but I don't like how Bollywood always creates a personality cult of the actor- Shahrukh, Aamir, everyone. They even shoot the scenes from the bottom so that the actor looks taller than all the surrounding buildings/trees/mountains.

Hey, I'll email you this satirical, funny novel on movies and distortions in reality. It's called Movin' Pictures by Terry Prattchett. It's about a crazy old world which is flat like a disc and is run by magic.
