Yash Chopra and India

Most of Yash Chopra's career heights were reached even before I was born. Before my craze for the film industry and Shahrukh Khan. Many love stories in modern India are linked to the cinema...as are sadly, many unfinished love stories. Everyone wants "that kind of true love"...and while not everyone has access to Shakespeare, everyone can buy a movie ticket to see a Yash Chopra Movie.

The haunting melodies of SILSILA still echo around the mind with images of flowery slopes and unrequited love. Ofcourse my love affair with everything-SRK started with DARR and went on with DDLJ (which ousted Sholay's record as the longest running movie in cinemas. It is still running at Maratha Mandir theater in Mumbai). DIL TOH PAGAL HAI....MOHABBATEIN...SAATHIYA...DHOOM...the list is endless.

How could one show so many shades of a simple emotion? He knew ofcourse what exactly would strike a chord with every Indian and made it larger-than-life, glorious and invaluable. Anyone born with me in 1986 would agree to have been influenced by atleast one of Yash Chopra's countless epics.

His newest movie is set to release...but sadly, the creative genius did not live to see it come to life and win hearts again.
RIP Yash Chopra...you are back with the Creator Of Love Himself

  1. In heaven, he'll be greeted by Dev Saab with welcoming words: " Yash Ji kya irada hai....movie banate hain koi." He has merely changed his physical location; the spirit will be very same, anywhere he goes.
